NYC and Philly
Yo DC. I've been doing a good bit of catch up the last week. I have an identical pic of trinity church in NYC and I love the I heart DC bag - you should have nabbed it!

I had to ask one of the copy writers at work what a campanologist was - she replied "Is it something to do with camping" - but I can't laugh too much as I had no clue, but still I don't call my self a copywriter so ha ha ha

Amish
2 Amish gentlemen photo - all you need Dan, is a straw hat and you would fit into their community perfectly, except you would miss the IT.
I hope you are practising your hula hooping- when I taught 4+ we had a hula hooping competition for the most number of circles wiggled. How many are you up to?

Re: Intercourse & Baltimore
DC:

That run-down area you saw in Baltimore is an interesting contrast to the low-tech but hard-working section you saw in Lancaster County. I was sure you'd like the people there, I just didn't know you'd resemble them! I would be curious to know if they thought you were a new "neighbor" of theirs. I'm sure when you answered, they'd have known otherwise. Have a great time in DC, there are plenty of free venues there, we've already paid for them (like I said before). Say hello to my Dad if you wander by 5-Y-13-5 at Arlington. It's not close to the visitor center, but that's never seemed to impede you in any way (grin). The Mall there is my favorite, even better than the Mall of America in Minneapolis you might have seen (grin).

Mamma Mia
Hey Dan, glad you enjoyed Mamma Mia. I have still got to see the play, my sister has seen it 3 times in London. Just wait till you see the film, same plot obviously, it is hilarious though as Pierce Brosnan plays the American and can not sing very well, looks a bit constipated when attempting to. Colin Firth is the Brit and also can not sing. It is very camp and I laughed so much, really worth seeing.
See you in 1.5 weeks

Hailey (25th Jul 2008)
Just spent the last 1.5 hours catching up...
Well I must admit I had gotten behind on your travels, every time I went to read them I got sidetracked... so here it is 1am and though I should be working I have officially caught up. I know you will be back in the ATL soon, can't wait to see you! Let me know when you will be here.

Hugs! Hailey

Ellis
Oma has often spoken of her experience when entering the US in 1940, very much a cattle herding operation. Strip search and medical not much fun!

Re: UBS
UBS these days is more on the ropes than JAS, amazingly.

Brooklyn
More memories of my working life as Brooklyn Sugar Refinery was one of several I regularly visited in the US. Usually stayed at Waldorf Astoria, subway to Brooklyn Town Hall then bus to the refinery, grabbing a typical NY breakfast somewhere on the way.
You wil soon be in Philadelphia, another old haunt. Do you Remember that Katrina used to live there and that's where she met her 2nd husband Paul. They now live in Bavaria. I'm sure you'll get to see the Liberty Bell, regretably cracked though it is; it was cast by Whitechapel Bell Foundry the proprietor of which used to be Will Hughes, now deceased, who used to be one of our ringers at St John's W. Wickham. His son has now taken over at the foundry but is not himself a ringer. "Not a lo' a people know that" as Mr Caine would say. How's that for a bit of useless information!!!
