Re: Radio |
DC: Your comments about the radio station repackaging are spot-on. Clear Channel, a megacorp that buys up radio stations, have automated many of them, so that the old method of voice-overs are no longer used. If people realized this, they might just use XM/Sirius instead and only tune in to local talk radio (many times AM band stations) like WSB here in Atlanta for their news and information. There's nothing to compare to standing on the canyon rims looking down thousands of feet, no safety net, nothing to keep you from slipping but a good pair of shoes (uhhhhhhh.....grin). Sort of ruins those wimpy roller coaster experiences! |

Arizona |
Your latest blog & pics evoked more memories fro us, of the 2 weeks we spent at a timeshare in Sedona. We loved the drive fom there to Flagstaff and I seem to remember going to an observatory nearby. There was also an intereting mining town not too far from Sedona which had lots of historic interest. This was at the time Al was in LA and he met us at Phoenix airport and spent a weekend with us in Sedona. Yes, Phoenix certainly can be hot and AC in a car is almost essential. An amusing irrelevance from Paul Merton - have a look at MUGABE backwards! |

Take It Easy |
As I write this I'm listening to the Eagles. What were they doing in Winslow I wonder? On a tour of the USA like you.I must admit to singing the words without thinking about them. You take it easy and try to stay cool in the heat of Phoenix. Much love. x x x x |

Grand Canyon |
I am so jealous. The hike down to the Colorado River looks hard and reminds me so much of trekking in the Himalyas, boulder hopping, scrambling on all 4s, etc. Did you ask the Japanese -to move over, taking photo- as you posed on the rim?? Well done, that was a real achievement. Thank you to Liz and Matt, for letting you join them.It is so much nicer to have people to share that sort of experience with. Take care. |

Spooky |
I was looking at your blog about Zion and at the same time this show about Zion came on the travel channel showing Angels Landing. Looks amazing and terrifying. Very jealous now!! How long will you be at Grand Canyon? |

Okay! |
Okay all I have to saw is the Labyrinth Rocks! I have the movie on DVD and actually used to own the sound track...should I be admitting this? Probably not! But that was one of my favorite songs ![]() |

ReL Grannie |
DC: Obviously grannie's requests for people to keep showers short over the years went unheeded. The time she spent doing other things in order to do the extra cleaning and paying the extraneous water bill probably shorted her on time to develop her wifi configuration knowledge; it fits perfectly! So, Karma demands that whenever you run into somebody who has been to Bryce and doesn't stink deserves a piece of your mind. I'm sure you'd agree! PS: The "special underwear" demands a level of crabbiness not found in others. You must either convert, submit, or at least understand. Not really. But the LDS story in an interesting one, and the story of this country wouldn't be complete, nor understandable, without them. |

Bryce |
Your pics reminded us that Bryce was one of our favourite national parks and we well remember the curiously named "Hoodoos"; any ideas as to the derivation? Perhaps it is anative American word. Your pics are stunning. Don't be too hard on the Mormons, they do a lot of good charitable work if not always for the right reasons. Don't worry, I'm not in danger of conversion!! |
